Abstract

The rapid development in image analysis techniques has made it possible to study the growth kinetics of filamentous microorganisms in more detail than previously, However, owing to the many different processes that influence the morphology it is important to apply mathematical models to extract information about the underlying mechanisms from experimental data. This review is concerned with the development and application of such models.
