    Abstract

A model was developed which permits calculation of the downwind radiation doses from a release of radioactive isotopes. The model can be used for calculating external gamma doses, as well as internal doses due to inhalation of radioactive material. The Gaussian plume model is used assuming release from a point source with either constant leak rate or leak of a constant fraction of a given amount per time unit. Fall-out and wash-out ar e accounted for, as ar e the changes in concentration due to variation of the wind-direction during the release. Furthermore radioactive do cay is accounted for as well as growth and decay of daughter products. Based on the model two computer programs were written for the calculation of doses to individuals: GDOS (external £amma doses) and INDOS2 (inhalation doses). Both programs assume constant leak-rate and
GDOS does not take into consideration fall-out, wash-out and variation of the wind-direction. Data for the programs are given in the appendix.
