Abstract
The integration of an input LC filter with a dual-active-bridge (DAB) converter improves the quality of the input current. However, the interaction between the filter and converter can induce resonant instability. To address this issue, this article proposes a model-predictive active-damping control (MPADC) scheme for stabilizing the LC-filtered DAB converter system. First, an improved cost function is developed by incorporating output-voltage regulation and virtual-admittance-based active damping, reshaping the DAB converter’s input impedance and effectively suppressing resonance. Then, an MPADC scheme with a continuous-control set is developed, which improves steady-state performance, enhances robustness to model mismatches, and reduces the number of physical sensors. Furthermore, theoretical analysis of the closed-loop impedance stability and robustness of the proposed MPADC is provided. Experimental results confirm the superiority of the proposed strategy over conventional MPC approaches.
