Abstract

The EURL-PC conducted hands-on training for six NRL participants from six different EU member states. The purpose was to train the participants using the EURL-PC validated chemical analytical method for determination of 2- and 3-MCPD and Glycidyl Esters in food products. The training included laboratory safety issues, hands-on preparation of calibration curve and samples in the laboratory and determination of the content based on Gas Chromatography – Tandem Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS/MS). Calculation of the contents were based on stable isotope internal standard calibration principles. The sample matrix used in the laboratory by the participants was powder infant formula sample. The matrix was chosen to align with the upcoming EURL-PC Proficiency Test for 3-MCPD and Glycidyl Esters in powder infant formula. The participants were also introduced into quality assurance and quality control measures used by the EURL-PC both inside and outside the laboratory. Agenda, evaluation of the training and the presentations are included in this report.
