Abstract
The kinetics of the gas-phase reaction of CH3O2 radicals with NO2 were studied at 295 K in 0.5-14 arm of SF6 diluent using pulse radiolysis combined with time-resolved UV-VIS spectroscopy. Rate data were obtained by following the loss of CH3O2 using a monitoring wavelength of 260 nm. The results were well described using the Tree formula with F-c = 0.40 +/- 0.09, k(0) = (1.46 +/- 0.50) x 10(-30) cm(6) molecule(-1) s(-1) and k(infinity) = (1.81 +/- 0.25) x 10(-11) cm(3) molecule(-1) s(-1) These results are compared to the previous data and discussed in terms of reactivity trends and the atmospheric chemistry of peroxy radicals.
