Abstract

A certain textbook has been used for the concrete technology course at Technical University of Denmark (DTU) for the last five years. It is the students’ own responsibility to acquire the textbook. Over the years, most of the students have acquired a physical (hardback) book. However, during the recent semester, it became possible to download an electronic version of the book (E-book) from the DTU library for free. The present paper does not pretend to be a scientific study on the learning outcome from E-books and printed books, respectively. It is rather a summary of observations on how factors like format and prize have an impact on student preferences and how they use the course reading material.
