Abstract
Nano-sized alpha-Fe particles on a carbon support have been studied by Mossbauer spectroscopy. It is found that chemisorption of CO results in formation of a diamagnetic surface component. The magnetic anisotropy energy constant is only slightly affected by chemisorption of carbon monoxide and hydrogen.
