    Abstract

Several methods have been developed for the in-flight calibration of the Ørsted vector magnetometer. They are based on one of the following principles: a) estimating of the magnetometer constants by means of a scalar calibration (comparison of the vector magnetometer (CSC) with the scalar Overhauser magnetometer (OVH); b) estimating of the magnetometer constants (and of the Euler angles between the CSC and the star imager) together with a main field model by means of a vector calibration. We will present the different methods, and discuss the calibration philosophy adopted for the Ørsted mission.
