    Abstract

Using simulation as an approach to display and improve internal logistics and handling at hospitals has great potential. This research will show how a simulation model can be used to evaluate changes made to two different cases of transportation of
blood samples at a hospital, by evaluating different scenarios against the current situation.
The simulation showed that big potential could be obtained by changing the current approach, implementing a pneumatic tube system showed that a reduction in transportation of up to 35 % could be obtained.
