    Abstract

This paper presents the implementation work of IEC generic model of Type 1 wind turbine generator (WTG) in two commercial simulation tools: DIgSILENT
PowerFactory (PF) and Matlab Simulink. The model topology, details of the composite blocks and implementation procedure in PF and Simulink environments are described. Case studies under both normal and fault conditions have been conducted with the implemented IEC Type 1 WTG model. The dynamic
responses are captured and analyzed. The simulation results of both models are compared and analyzed. It is verified that the IEC generic model can correctly represent the performance of Type 1 WTG for power system stability studies.
