abstract = "The analysis of interactions between grid-forming inverters (GFMIs) and the grid, along with the impact of these interactions on system stability, is crucial given the increasing integration of GFMIs into power grids. This paper presents an analysis of interactions between the active power control loop of GFMIs and the grid and investigates their effects on smallsignal stability of GFMIs using eigenvalue analysis. First, the model and dynamics of GFMIs with various control schemes are introduced. Next, the small-signal model is derived, and the dominant modes of the system are identified by examining the trajectories of dominant eigenvalues associated with GFMIs under different control schemes. Participation factors are then calculated to pinpoint the states contributing to the system's dominant modes. The results of this analysis identify the root causes of instability and offer solutions for the connection of GFMIs to strong grids.",
