Abstract

Within the Annex TS 6 – Status Assessment, Ageing, Lifetime prediction and Asset Management the collaborative work is distributed into 5 subtasks A to E. The presented work in this document concerns subtask A: Status Assessment of District Heating Networks.

The overall objectives of ST A are:
• Improve the knowledge concerning
• the status of district heating (DH) networks in participating countries
• status assessment methods
• failure modes of DH networks
• Create reliable methods for status assessment as a key element of remaining lifetime prediction of DH Pipes.

In this report, the authors have compiled their research findings, knowledge, and experience to date. The focus is on prefabricated1 bonded pipes, flexible pipes, and DH pipes laid in non- accessible concrete ducts. Pipe manufacturers, utility companies, and researchers from Austria, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Sweden, and South Korea were involved in compiling the report.
