Abstract
This study focuses on the formulation of three hyperpolarized metabolic contrast agents for large animal experiments: KIC, alanine and fumarate, hyperpolarized at high field to levels comparable to pyruvic acid. These substrates offer high concentration injectables, compatibility with biological systems, appropriate tissue distribution, and relevance to metabolic studies. We aim to enable investigations in brain energy metabolism in large animals and, potentially, humans.
