Abstract

Organic phosphate metabolites contain functional groups withpKa values near the physiologic pH range, yielding pH-dependet ¹³C chemical shift changes of adjacent quaternary carbon sites.Whenformed in defined cellular compartmentsfrom exogenoushyperpolarised¹³Csubstrates,metabolites thuscanyieldlocalisedpHvalues and correlationsoforganellepH and catalyticactivity.
