title = "Hot-wire Measurements of Atmospheric Turbulence near the Ground",
abstract = "A description is given of the instrumentation that was used by the meteorology group of Ris{\o} National Laboratory during the Kansas 1968 experiment. The sensors consisted of hot-wires and a cold-wire mounted on a wind vane. The parametres measured were all components of the velocity plus the temperature or the total horizontal velocity. The data were recorded on an analogue recorder and analysed at Ris{\o} by means of an analogue computer, providing mean values and second order moments together with power-, co- and quadrature spectra. The instrumentation system and the analysis are discussed. The results presented are mainly centered around display of the different non-idealities in instrument response and analysis schemes, and in comparing our results to the main set of results obtained during the experiment by the group from Air Force Cambridge Laboratories. However, the data set also yields independent information about the behaviour of power-co- and quadrature spectra in the atmospheric surface layer and about the dissipation of velocity and temperature versus stability.",
