Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingBook chapterResearchpeer-review

This chapter aims at presenting a comprehensive introduction, progress report, and technoeconomic analysis on the recently introduced mechanical energy storage system to the literature, that is, high-temperature heat and power storage (HTHPS). The chapter is one of those in the book that also well considers the impact of dynamics of the operating load and off-design conditions on the technical, environmental, and economic effectiveness of the system. In addition, there is a case study analysis part that helps the readers better see the quantified performance of the system in real operational conditions in various aspects. Like the previous chapters, the modeling part tries to be as thorough as possible to enable the readers, especially the MSc/PhD students or early-career engineers/researchers, to do their own simulations, computer programming, or case study analyses on various configurations of HTHPS. As the technology is getting much attention in at least some parts of the world for fast commercialization, there is finally a future perspective part that aims at giving the best possible picture of the system in the corning years.
