Abstract
Heat transfer coefficient and pressure drop for boiling carbon
dioxide (R744) flowing in a horizontal pipe has been measured. The
calculated heat transfer coeeficient has been compared with the
Chart correlation of Shah. The Chart Correlation predits too low
heat transfer coefficient but the ratio between the measured and
the calculated heat transfer coefficient is nearly constant and
equal 1.9. With this factor the correlation predicts the measured
data within 14% (RMS). The pressure drop is of the same order as
the measuring uncertainty and the pressure drop has not been
compared with correlation's.
