Voltage source converter (VSC)-based high voltage direct current (HVDC) technologies have attracted more and more attention for integration of offshore wind power due to its good controllability. Coordinated control strategies shall be developed to utilize ancillary services from combined alternating current (AC)/DC grids and wind power plants, maintain good voltages, and mitigate the potential resonance problem. Besides, the fault current situation in DC grids depends on the control strategy and the interaction between the DC and AC grids. It is important to investigate the fault current situation considering both factors and design protection schemes. This Special Issue on Coordinated Control and Protection of Offshore Wind and Combined AC/DC Grid contains 17 high quality papers that are relevant to this topic, including frequency control, voltage control, optimal operation, and fault analysis and protection of wind power and AC/DC grids, and HVDC technologies.
