Abstract

Composites are a way to reduce the expensive/energy intensive material needed for a product. Production of silicone is a highly energy intensive process. Glycerol is a waste product from bio diesel production and is readily available. By making a glycerol silicone elastomer composite the amount of the energy intensive silicone can be reduced [1]. This work will focus on the characterization of the new elastomeric material.
