Abstract

High ambitions are set for the building physics performance of buildings today. No single technology can achieve fulfilment of these ambitions alone. Integrated, multi-facetted solutions and optimization are necessary. A holistic, or “global”, technological perspective is needed, which includes all aspects of the building as defined in building engineering.
We live in an international society and building solutions are developed across country borders. Building physics is a global theme. The International Association of Building Physics has global appeal.
The keynote lecture and this brief paper will illustrate some global relations and highlight some of the challenges we see today.
