Abstract

A novel method of generating a plane-wave field using a loudspeaker array has been proposed by Choi and Kim. In the method, a plane wave is generated by concentrating acoustic potential energy on a point in wave number domain. In this paper, encoding by rigid sphere microphone is applied to wave number domain focusing, which provides advantages in measuring sound field. Spherical harmonics expression and 3D spatial Fourier transform are introduced for it. By this method, a plane wave that propagates to any direction we want in 3D space is well reproduced.
