Abstract
Time-resolved gain and phase dynamics of an InAs/InGaAsP/InP quantum-dot
semiconductor optical amplifier are investigated. The recovery is dominated by an ultrafast
component (~1 ps), indicating strongly that the gain medium is genuinely dot-like in character.
