Formation of disorientations in dislocation structures during plastic deformation

    Abstract

Disorientations developing during plastic deformation in dislocation structures are investigated. Based on expected mechanisms for the formation of different types of dislocation boundaries (statistical trapping of dislocations or differently activated slip systems) the formation of the disorientation angles across dislocation boundaries is modeled. The evolution of the disorientation angle with strain, the distribution function of the disorientation angles and the correlation between the disorientations in neighbouring boundaries are predicted in good agreement with experimental observations.
