Abstract
The problem of describing the migration of dissolved boron in wood is treated with special reference to
the commonly used remedial treatment of wooden poles. The governing equations are derived and discussed
together with some of the material parameters required. The equations are solved by the finite element
method and, finally, results showing the effect of different treatment strategies are presented.
