    Abstract

A model of the 2×3-phase synchronous machine is presented using a new transformation based on the eigenvectors of the stator inductance matrix. The transformation fully decouples the stator inductance matrix, and this leads to an equivalent diagram of the machine with no mutual couplings in the stator. A consistent method is developed to determine model parameters from standard machine data. A phasor model of the line commutated converter is presented. The converter model includes not only the fundamental frequency, but also any chosen number of harmonics without a representation of the single thyristors
