In this paper the influence of the concrete compressive strength
and the reinforcement ratio on the shear transfer across cracks
are studied experimentally and theoretically. Tests on 84
specimens of the push-off type are reported. Most of the specimens
were precracked along the shear plane. Among other things steel
strains and shear stress - displacement relationships were
measured. On the basis of the tests formulas for the dowel action
and aggregate interlock forces are suggested.
