Abstract
The EU Reference Laboratory for Processing Contaminants (EURL-PC) organised a Proficiency Test (PT) for acrylamide in cocoa for the European National Reference Laboratories (NRLs) according to Regulation (EU) No 2017/625. The purpose was to assess the NRLs’ performance in determining the acrylamide content in cocoa. Furthermore, paid participation was allowed for Official Laboratories (OFLs). The PT was announced on the 21st of March 2023 with the registration deadline on the 14th of April 2023, and the results submission deadline the of the 25th of May 2023, with 40 laboratories reporting results for acrylamide.
The following can be concluded from the test results obtained from the participating laboratories: In total 34 laboratories (85%) provided acceptable results, two laboratories (5%) had questionable results, and four (10%) laboratories delivered unsatisfactory results.
