The Soave-Redlich-Kwong (SRK) equation of state was used to
investigate and develop several aspects of the modeling of natural
petroleum fluids.A new method was presented for numerical
evaluation of PVT experiments. This method was used in the
estimation of binary interaction parameters. A comphrensive study
of pseudoization procedures is presented. It is concluded that the
compared methods exhibit results of comparable accuracy, and that
six to eight pseudocomponents are needed for optimal
representation of petroleum fluids. Finally, it is investigated how
well the EOS can represent the VLLE that exists for mixtures of
CO2 and crude oils. Good results are obtained, and a tuning
procedure is proposed for improved representation of the three
phase equilibria.
