Abstract

Measurements of fallout radioactivity in the North Atlantic region including Faroe Islands and Greenland are reported. Strontium-90, cesium-137 and cesium-134 were determined in samples of precipitation, sea water, vegetation, various foodstuffs (including milk in the Faroes), and drinking water. Estimates are given of the mean contents of ⁹⁰Sr and ¹³⁷Cs in human diet in the Faroes and Greenland in 1987. ⁹⁹Tc data on marine samples are reported. Data on plutonium and americium in sediments and biota collected at Thuk in 1984 are presented.
