Abstract

We present a novel approach to designing transmission links with lumped amplification achieving near optimal nonlinearity compensation by inclusion of an inline OPC. SNR gains of 6.0 dB to 7.5 dB are found numerically in WDM multi-span transmission when comparing to standard EDFA-based systems.
