Abstract

A system for specific detection of lactoferrin comprises a molecularly imprinted polymer (404) imprinted with a lactoferrin template (403) may be used in the field of intelligent point-of-care health monitoring systems. More specifically, the system may be used towards for specific detection of lactoferrin in e.g. urine samples for early warnings of urinary tracts infections by integrating the system in an urinary bag, a catheter or an adaptor. Molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) specific to lactoferrin may be grafted on a working electrode (401) by electro polymerization. A mixture of a functional monomer (402), an electrolyte, and a lactoferrin template (403) may be deposited on the working electrode (401).
