Abstract
In the analytical calculation of Hull Girder Ultimate Strength using Smith's method, the ship is divided into several elements, where each element contributes to the total bending capacity of the ship. At this point, the ultimate strength assessment of stiffened panels which is part of the ship hull elements must be conducted cautiously by taking into account the undesirable conditions. The present paper studies the ultimate strength of stiffened panels under variations of initial imperfection geometrics with a particular degree of severity. Additionally, the geometry variations of the stiffened panel model have been carried out to obtain results according to actual conditions. The analysis was conducted using the finite element method by the commercial software ANSYS, and then the results were compared using the results from IACS-CSR. In general, results show that the initial imperfection geometric greatly decreases the ultimate strengths at around 10% for standard initial imperfection geometric and at around 7.8% percent for severe imperfection.
