Abstract

Planning is an important part of any modal test. Optimal Sensor Placement techniques can assist in finding the optimal number of sensors, their location and orientation. The presented study demonstrates the effect of the techniques on the quality of modal test results: the uncertainty of the estimated natural frequencies and damping, as well as the quality of the full field mode shapes expanded from the experimentally obtained mode shapes.
