Abstract
This paper describes an extensive experimental investigation conducted on the Braga Stadium suspension roof combining recent developments in terms of sensors, data communicating systems, computational power and automated output-only modal identification algorithms. The continuous monitoring program established around this outstanding structure has allowed the continuous measurement of wind, temperature and acceleration. The variation of such quantities during a period of 8. months has been investigated, with the purpose of obtaining a characterisation of the wind action based on field tests, establishing correlations with the structural response and finally analysing the influence of wind and temperature on the variation of modal parameters. © 2013 Elsevier Ltd.
