Abstract

This publication is about scientific advice on wind and energy systems and describes how DTU Provide advice to policy- and decision-makers in transforming energy systems.

Strong winds of technological and political priorities following the war in Ukraine, supply-chain challenges and growing geopolitical tensions have impacted on the energy sector in the direction of a low-carbon, secure and efficient energy system. The department has also been changed by the merger of the wind and energy systems research communities into a single stronghold of research, education, innovation and scientific advice, called 'DTU Wind and Energy Systems'.

The impressive development of variable energy sources and their integration into energy systems have been driven by an intelligent combination of technological development, markets and policies, in which DTU has provided scientific advice to decision-makers within key-topics such as resource assessment, infrastructure planning and design, the deployment of renewable energy, auctions, and market design and planning.

The future will be even more dramatic in terms of the accelerated deployment of renewable energy sources and system integration. This will require a step-change in scientific advice to support policy- and decision-makers in making the energy transition a reality.
