Dispersive self-Q-switching in a microscopic laser

Abstract

We suggest a microscopic self-pulsing laser based on dispersive self-Q-switching that can generate short picosecond pulses at gigahertz repetition rates. Such a laser may find applications in on-chip integrated photonic circuits.
