Abstract
The adoption of learning technology in industry has outpaced its effective implementation, leading to a gap between adoption and evaluation. The current scientific literature lacks sufficient job-specific training studies in pharmaceutical production settings. To address the gap, a case study was conducted in a Danish pharmaceutical company to explore challenges associated with digital training technology adoption and evaluation effectiveness. Data was collected through depth interviews and observations. Analysis was conducted using affinity diagrams, PACT analysis, and Rich Picture. The study identified challenges in technology, organization, attitude, competence, regulation, demand, and data access. Challenges regarding the training process include a lack of standardization, and limited resources. Adoption of digital training technologies faces challenges such as lack of documented effect and usability issues. Evaluating of training faces challenges such as a lack of established protocols, and variance in processes, contexts, and user groups. Future work should establish measurable indicators for learning linked to production metrics, conducting small-scale experiments, creating a general evaluation procedure, and expanding evaluation to additional sites.
