Abstract
This paper discusses the advantages and problems when implementing
direct energy conversion switching-mode audio power amplifiers. It
is shown that the total integration of the power supply and Class
D audio power amplifier into one compact direct converter can
simplify the design, increase efficiency, reduce the product
volume and lower its cost. As an example, the principle of
operation and the measurements made on a direct-conversion
switching-mode audio power amplifier with active capacitive
voltage clamp are presented.
