Digital Precoding Technique for Crosstalk Mitigation in an Intensity Modulation and Direct Detection (IM/DD) Space Divison Multiplexing (SDM) Systems

Abstract

In an emulated IM/DD SDM system, at a fixed power budget, digital precoding increases crosstalk tolerance by 1.3 dB and 3.3 dB for PAM4 and PAM8 signaling, respectively, at the KP4 FEC BER threshold (2.2e-4).
