    Abstract

The purpose of this study is the examination of optimum rotor theories with ideal load distributions along the blades, to analyze some of the underlying ideas and concepts, as well as to illuminate them. The book gives the historical background of the issue and presents the analysis of the problems arising in the actuator disc theory - the simplest model of the rotor. Authors have found new analytical solutions for the ideal rotor with a finite number of blades which was used for a comparison of different rotor models.
