Abstract
Reusing structural concrete elements can reduce the environmental impact of construction. However, the absence of standardized documentation procedures remains a major barrier to implementation. This study introduces and validates a non-destructive testing (NDT)-based methodology for assessing structural elements intended for reuse. The procedure combines multiple NDT methods to evaluate subsurface conditions, reinforcement layout, and compressive strength of concrete. It was applied in nine case studies involving residential, institutional, and industrial buildings. The results show that the procedure is efficient in reliable reusability documentation of structural concrete elements within donor buildings. The methodology forms the basis for an informative standard (DS/INF 671) that supports circular construction by enabling safe and scalable reuse of structural concrete elements.
