Determination of the polarization of Bragg-reflected gamma rays by means of the Mössbauer effect

    Abstract

    Recoil-free 14.4 keV gamma rays from 57Fe are reflected from an aluminium single crystal. By measurements of the intensities of the peaks in the Mössbauer spectra the polarization at different Bragg angles is determined.
