Abstract
The decay Ta182→W182 has been investigated with a double-focussing β-ray spectrometer and a curved crystal γ-ray spectrometer. The β spectrum consists of six components: 257 keV (logft = 7.3), 437 keV (8.3), 479 keV (9.2), 521 keV (8.3), 553 keV (9.4) and 1482 keV (12.2). The measured conversion coefficients agree well with the theoretical values of Sliv and Band. In particular, the previously reported conversion anomalyy of the 152.4 keV transition has not been confirmed. By means of β-γ coincidence experiments the Q value of the Ta182 decay was found to be Q = (1.811 ± 0.007) MeV. The results can well be interpreted in terms of collective models. The γ-ray intensities of Ta183→W183 have also been measured.
