    Abstract

In a previous report (RISØ-M-1810) we analyzed the creep properties of discontinuous fibre composites with non-creeping fibres. In the present report this analysis is extended to include the case of discontinuous composites with partly creeping fibres. It is shown, that the creep properties of the composite at a given strain rate, εc, depend on the creep properties of the matrix at a strain rate higher than εc, and on the creep properties of the fibres at εc. The composite creep law is presented in a form which permits a graphical determination of the composite creep curve. This can be constructed on the basis of the matrix and the fibre creep curves by vector operations in a log εvs. log a diagram. The matrix contribution to the creep strength can be evaluated by a simple method.
