    Abstract

In order to integrate ergonomic aspects into the design of products and production systems many tools and procedures are available. For the ergonomists, however, it is a question of recognizing the organizational context and the role to play for making integration possible. Based on an understanding of design proc-esses as social processes we suggest a supplementary role for ergonomists: political agents. This might open up for a new understanding and thereby influence the priorities of ergonomics in enterprises.
