Abstract

For the electrochemical detection of nitrite in aqueous solutions, a sensor was developed utilising microsystems techno-logy. With electrodes in the sub-millimetre range, measurements were successfully performed and a concentration down to of 0.6 mgl-1 were detected without the addition of supporting electrolytes. A carbon-doped-photoresist was developed as an alternative electrode material for increasing long term stability. The measurement was performed with a low-power potentiostat to realize a long-term observation of nitrite in natural water.
