    Abstract

Capacitive top loading for size reduction of the Planar Inverted F Antenna (PIFA) is presented in this paper. A measured 39% reduction from 1.8 to 1.22 GHz of the resonant frequency is accomplished by using a 1.1 pF distributed capacitor. The simulated –6 dB bandwidth is 9% with a peak radiation efficiency of 90%.
