Abstract
We present a coupled-mode pumping strategy that overcomes the long-standing trade-off between conversion efficiency and optical bandwidth in soliton microcombs. Using this approach, we experimentally demonstrate an octave-spanning single soliton microcomb that achieves nearly 50% pump-to-comb conversion efficiency.
