Bounds for the probability of a union - a fault tree application

    A survey is given of methods for calculating upper and lower bounds of degree two for the probability of a union. The methods are shown to be applicable to fault tree probability calculations where they provide better bounds than the frequently used Bonferroni inequalities of degree two.
