A method for determination of the aerodynamic damping of blade and tower mode shapes of an operating wind turbine has been established. The mode shapes are nexcited by the blade pitching system, using a frequency and a phase corresponding to the actualmode shape. After the excitation, it is possible to identify the damping as the decay of response signals from the wind turbine. The method has been developed and established using aeroelastic load simulation codes, HAWC and FLEX5 for a 2MW stallcontrolled turbine. Experimental verification has been carried out on a 1.3MW turbine. (in Danish)
